200 Dog Breed-Specific Websites – Top Dog Tips

200 Dog Breed-Specific Websites

There are a lot of dog-related websites out there, so information about our canine friends is abundant. Navigating around all those websites can be tricky, however, and the best sources of information often remain unnoticed. To try and remedy that, below we’ve listed the best websites about specific dog breeds we could find. Whatever breed your dog is, here you’ll find the most suitable informational website for that breed.

We’ve chosen these sites based on how accurate and useful the information they publish is, how often they publish new guides, articles and events, as well as on how adequately crafted and easy to use are the websites themselves. Of course, some of these factors can be subjective, plus there are a lot of great websites out there, so it’s perfectly normal if you think we’ve missed some worthy entries. Regardless, we’ve tried to be as objective as possible, so if you’re looking for a website that can help you take better care of your dog – we hope you’ll find it here.

Below we’ve listed the 190 dog breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), as they are ranked in popularity among dog owners for 2017. We’ve also added 10 honorable mentions:

The Labrador Site

Retrievers (Labrador)

URL: https://www.thelabradorsite.com/

The Labrador Site is our top pick for the Labrador Retriever breed because of its clean and simple design, as well as the large quantity of information they’ve gathered. On this website you’ll find sections such as “Health”, “Care”, “Training”, “Behavior” and others, all the way to “Dog names” and “Books”. The information, advices and tips are all well-researched and structured, they are easy to understand and apply and there are no major gaps that you might find. There are several other good websites for Labrador Retrievers, but we feel that The Labrador Site has everything for everyone.

German Shepherd Dog Club of America

German Shepherd Dogs

URL: https://www.gsdca.org/

As with any popular dog breed, there are a great deal of breed-specific websites out there. There are a lot of local rescues for German Shepherds with nice websites you might want to check out, but we’ve settled on the German Shepherd Dog Club of America. A lot of the information on their website is about the club itself, but they also have an abundance of content on the German Shepherd breed itself, how to train German Shepherds, how to take care of their health, what’s the breed standard and history, and much more.

Golden Retrievers Dog and Puppies Information

Retrievers (Golden)

URL: https://www.golden-retriever-dog.com/

For Golden Retrievers we’d recommend the Golden Retrievers Dog and Puppies Information website. It isn’t the flashiest of websites, but it has all the information you might need – breed details, training and raising tips and advices, veterinary help, grooming advices, tips on socializing your puppies, and more. Most of the other websites on Golden Retrievers you might find online are club sites that focus more on information about the club itself rather than the breed. Plus, the clean and simple design of the site we’ve chosen makes it much easier to navigate.

French Bulldog Owner’s Manual

French Bulldogs

URL: http://allaboutfrenchies.com/

For Frenchies we’d recommend the French Bulldog Owner’s Manual. This “All about Frenchies” website lives up to its name and provides you with everything you might need to take proper care of your Frenchie puppy. From general tips and advices such as grooming tips, breeding standard and training advices, to health-related informational articles on how to make sure that your pup is as healthy as possible. There’s also an online shop with products for French Bulldogs so you’ll get that on the same website as well.

The Bulldog Information Library

Bulldogs

URL: http://bulldogbreeds.bulldoginformation.com/

The AKC lists most Bulldog sub-breeds as a single breed so we kept following their template and looked for a website that is great for all Bulldog pets. The Bulldog Information Library stuck out to us with its extensive information on all the different types of Bulldog dogs – the Frenchie, the American Bulldog, the English Bulldog, the Victorian, Aussie and Boston Bulldog, and all others. The website gives ample information for all of them – history, descriptions, standard, and more. There are other sub-breed-specific sites on Bulldogs, but the Information Library covers all sub-breeds in one place.

Beagles Unlimited

Beagles

URL: https://www.beaglesunlimited.com/

Beagles Unlimited is the website on Beagles we settled on for various different reasons. The website has everything that you might be looking for on Beagles – health information, training tips and advices, as well as information on how to hunt with Beagles. There are also a lot of useful links to other related websites that you might be interested in, as well as Beagles chat forum for Beagle owners to collaborate with each other. All those resources, together with the clean and slick way in which they are presented, made the Beagles Unlimited a pretty clear pick for the breed.

The Yorkie Info Center site is not the flashiest of websites but if you’re looking for quality information – you’ll get it there. The sites goes over house training, grooming, different food types and recipes, all the delicate behavioral nuances that separate Yorkies from other dogs, all the types of care a Yorkie need, and more.

German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America

German Shorthaired Pointers

URL: http://www.gspca.org/

German Shorthaired Pointers were the most popular Pointer breed of 2017, but finding an informative website that’s dedicated to this particular breed is challenging as they are often lumped together with other pointers. We recommend the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America – as other club websites this one too has a lot of club-related information that may not interest general dog owners. However, in addition to that the site also has a lot of relevant information about the breed, a lot of great articles and advices, and has a very appealing and user-friendly design.

All Boxer Info

Boxers

URL: http://www.allboxerinfo.com/

All Boxer Info – or ABI – is the website we’d recommend for boxer dog owners. The website doesn’t impress with a beautiful design, but definitely catches the eye with the oozes of information it has. Health, age, care, feeding, size, posture, coat, color, puppies, training, behavior, even things such as dental care are covered at All Boxer Info.

All About Great Danes

Great Dane

URL: http://www.all-about-great-danes.com/

For owners of Great Dane dogs, All About Great Danes should be the go-to informational website. The one drawback of this site is its peculiar design – the menu with different categories is situated all the way at the bottom of the front page. With that minor negative out of the way, however, the site definitely lives up to its name. On it you can find puppy info, health and care info, behavior and training tips and even gear advices. There are also a gallery and advices on German and English names for Great Dane puppies.

And as a breed with some genetic and health issues, a lot of those websites focus on the breed’s health – some even exclusively so. For a site with general information about the breed, however, we’d recommend one of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel clubs out there, such as the American club. Pet Pug Dog

Pugs

However, once you get your bearings, you’ll find that there is a ton of useful information on it, including multiple very informative downloadable files. The site offers an abundance of great help for new and seasoned Collie owners and that’s the main thing we’re looking for in a breed-dedicated site.

Still, this doesn’t mean that you can find useful information about your American English Coonhound dog. The Coon Hunting Club, for example, provides ample information on coonhounds, including the American English Coonhound. Cirneco dell’Etna

The American Cesky Terrier Fanciers Association’s website is our choice for what you should look at if you need breed-related info. As most club and association websites, this one also has a ton of info about the club itself, but as most of the good ones – it also has enough info on the breed itself. American Fox Hound Club

American Foxhounds

URL: http://www.americanfoxhoundclub.org/

Even though Foxhounds are so famous in pop-culture, both American and English Foxhounds are not actually very popular in recent years. What’s more, there’s also not so much information about them online, with most dog owners choosing coonhounds and other hound breeds over them. If you have an American Foxhound, we’d recommend the American Fox Hound Club as the first website you should check out. It definitely leaves a lot to be desired, but it should serve as a good initial hub of information. From there, we’d recommend orienting toward some social media groups and communities of Foxhound owners and fanciers.

American Sloughi Association ASLA

Sloughi

URL: https://sloughi-international.com/

There are articles on Sloughi health, behavior, training and more. There’s also a photo gallery, litter announcements, and a news section regarding upcoming events. In a perfect world we’d want even more breed-related info, but the site is still one of the best info sources about the breed online.

English Foxhounds

URL: https://foxhoundwelfareuk.jimdo.com/

There are section on different Foxhound types, info about the breed, info on Foxhounds rescues, and a lot of useful links. The design of the website isn’t anything to brag about but that’s hardly what matters.

Norwegian Lundehund Association of America, Inc.

Norwegian Lundehunds

URL: https://nlaainc.com/

Despite being the last breed on AKC’s list, the Norwegian Lundehund breed has its fair share of fans. Still, being a not-so-popular breed, the amount of online resources to choose from is a bit limited. We’ve chosen to showcase the Norwegian Lundehund Association of American, Inc, as it has a lot of what you might be looking for on the breed. The site offers information on the breed’s interesting history, on its breed standard and health issues, as well as news articles, information about the association itself and links to other relevant organizations and clubs.

There are articles on the breed’s history and standard, as well as on its health and how to raise a Whippet puppy.

Dalmatian Club of America

Dalmatians

URL: http://www.thedca.org/

Another pop-culture icon, the Dalmatian breed definitely deserves a second mention. We decided to go with the Dalmatian Club of America’s website for the huge amount of useful information that’s on it. The site’s design isn’t anything spectacular but that’s hardly what’s important when you want to learn more about your four-legged friend. On this site you can find a ton of educational resources in addition to the basic info about the breed’s history, health and standard.

The Cairn Terrier Club of America

Cairn Terrier

URL: http://cairnterrier.org/

The Cairn Terrier Club of America’s website is a great source for discovering what it’s like to own a Cairn Terrier. Italian Greyhound Club of America

Italian Greyhounds

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

URL: https://nsdtrc-usa.org/

As most retrievers, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a very social and friendly dog but it still requires a fair bit of know-how in order to be properly raised and trained. On the website of the breed’s U.S. club you can find most of the information you’ll need, from the dogs’ genetics and health, through their temperament and history, to finding professional trainers, breeders and rescues to help you along the way. All that knowledge comes together with well-structured and presented information about the club itself and its frequent dog owner events, which is a great way to get involved with the community.
