A Dog Walked Into A Police Station To Report Himself Missing
A dog walks into a police station…it sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. But in reality, it was something that really happened at the Odessa Police Department in Texas. Staff were greeted with a surprise visit when one adorable little pooch strolled in and went straight up to the counter.
The dog was wearing a collar but was missing his ID tag. Luckily for the dog, he was in a precinct full of police – they could do the detective work. They sent animal control to come get him for a microchip scan. While waiting, the dog was in the care of the precinct where everyone doted on him.
Sergeant Rusty Martin explained to The Dodo, “We were all excited to have him in the building. We had a tennis ball and threw it in the lobby for a bit. Everyone loved on him.”
During the wait, the pup must have gotten tired or bored, because he walked out after he’d had enough excitement and returned to his family! As it turned out, Chico the dog lived not too far from the Odessa police station.
The police posted about it on their Facebook page. It looks like there is always an open spot on the force if Chico ever wants to go back – he made quite the impression!
The reality is that many dogs go missing each and every day.
