An Overview of Regulatory Failures – Truth about Pet Food

We compiled years of FDA failures regulating pet food into one document, a white paper exposing the lawlessness in pet food.

Regular readers of this website will probably be familiar with all of the regulatory failures explained in the document, and just as disgusted with FDA now as when you first read it. New readers will probably be shocked, never knowing that FDA and partner regulatory authorities have ignored so many violations of law.

Compiled together, these regulatory failures example just how difficult it is for pet owners to provide a safe, quality food to their pet.

And that is the reason we put this document together. Members of Congress (FDA’s boss) needs to understand what it’s like to walk in a pet food consumer’s shoes. They need to see the graphic images of rendering facilities – images of illegal ingredients allowed into pet food through FDA enforcement discretion with no disclosure to consumers. Members of Congress need to read about FDA’s failed investigations; failing to properly trace adulterated ingredients resulting in contaminated pet foods remaining on store shelves for months. Our lawmakers need to know that pet food consumers are denied public access to pet food laws and are provided with no voice in the regulatory process.

Feel free to share the document with anyone. But most importantly, please ask your Representatives in Congress to read the document and ask for their assurance to follow up with FDA. Ask your Representatives in Congress to require pet food safety to be updated as explained in the Conclusion section of the document. The document can be sent as an attachment (after you download it to your computer) and emailed directly to your Senators and House of Representatives Officials or you can simply send a link to the document.

Also, please send President Biden, the White House the document.
