DIY Pet Emergency Kit – Dog is Good
An emergency happens at the worst time. Never when you are “prepared.” But for your pet, an emergency is on another level. They can’t grab their keys, laptop and wallet and head out the door. But you as a dog mom or dog dad can preplan and have a pet disaster preparedness kit ready to go. Having a kit and a plan in place will give pet parents peace of mind.

Whether you are at home or in your car, emergencies can strike. Worst possible scenarios can and will happen. As a dog lover, you want peace of mind. The best plan of action is to have two kits for home and away. Inexpensive backpacks are all you need to fill for your pet preparedness kit.

Chip ‘Em
One of the easiest ways you can prepare for an emergency is to make sure your dog is micro-chipped. In the event of a disaster and your dog gets lost, a microchip can help them get back to you safely. Microchipping is the process of inserting a tiny electronic chip (about the size of a grain of rice) under the pet’s skin. The microchip contains important personal data with a unique id number that links your pet back to you, ensuring that you can easily reclaim them if they are lost.
Dog Co-Dependent
You are your dog’s best friend. You will never leave them behind. Having a plan in place will make sure you and your pet stay together. At Dog Is Good, this is our favorite message:
Where I go, dog follows.
Where I stop, go settles.
When I am lost, dog finds me.
When I am joyful, dog joins me.
Who I am, dog knows.
What I needs, dog becomes.
