Dog Abandoned With Her Bowls Waiting Patiently For Owner Now In Foster Care

A female Terrier-American bulldog mix that was abandoned with her bowls on a sidewalk is now in foster care.

The dog, named Flora, was found on a sidewalk in Oxon Hill, Maryland last month. The Humane Society of Prince George’s County, an all-volunteer and non-profit animal shelter, posted about Flora on September 23, Saturday.

The shelter wrote, “This poor dog breaks our hearts — she was abandoned in Oxon Hill with her bowls and just patiently waited for someone to come back for her.”

The post came with a photo of Flora sitting patiently on the sidewalk, breaking the hearts of not only the animal shelter employees, but also dog lovers online.

According to Newsweek, the four-year-old dog was picked up on the same day and was, thankfully, in a “fair condition”.

Flora was later taken to the Prince George’s County Animal Services and Adoption Facility. And a few days after arriving at the shelter, the Humane Society of Prince George’s County confirmed that Flora is now in foster care.

Linda Lowe, a Prince George’s County information officer, reveals that the pooch was very scared at the shelter and appeared “to have been bred a couple of times.”

With the increasing number of abandoned and shelter animals, Lowe used this opportunity to remind and ask pet owners to “consider the alternative options, such as rehoming a pet with someone they trust.”

“If a pet must be surrendered, our facility will make every attempt to place the animal in a foster situation or rescue group or adopt the animal to another loving family,” Lowe told Newsweek.
