Golden Retriever Puppies Sit Transfixed By Purple Dragon Toy

I’ve always been a writer for as long as I can remember. Even when I was too young to write things down, I loved telling stories just as much as I loved listening to them. Then when I was of age to read and write, it was a whole other story. Once I began to read and write, I started to share the inner workings of my mind with my dog. She enjoyed hearing me read out whatever I had written to her. She was my best audience because she’d sit there and look genuinely invested in what I had to say. The cats were a different story – they’d just fall asleep on me out of boredom. But what I learned from those days was that animals enjoy storytime just as much as humans do. 

And one very precious video showed just how thrilling storytime was for a group of 4-week-old puppies. The video showed the Redlands, California pups enjoying storytime as brought to them by a specifically designated dragon. Sounds fun!

The puppies were being read the classic tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk” but the Storytelling Dragon called Dalton. As it turns out, the well-known English fairy tale is just one of many stories that gets read out loud by Dalton. The others that are read by Dalton are beloved classics such as “Hansel and Gretel,” “Rapunzel,” “The Ugly Duckling,” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

In the video, the puppies seemed entirely amused by the story of Jack and his magic beans brought to them by the animatronic purple dragon. There was one moment of distraction though – the dragon’s book changed colors, and this obviously caught the eye of his audience. And in typical puppy fashion, they obviously had to investigate. But while some of the puppies moved in for a closer look, there was one that was happily asleep. Clearly the riveting tale of Jack’s magic beans was just too much for him to handle. 

There is no doubt that the video was just too cute. Puppies enjoying story time, what’s not to love?
