Animal Rescue Names Their Dogs After The Health Heroes And Essential Workers

The healthcare workers and essential workers who are keeping our society going are truly heroes. There is not enough that could ever be done to repay them for all they’re doing. However, one dog rescue is taking a chance at honoring the coronavirus heroes by naming their dogs after doctors, nurses, and police officers.

The nonprofit organization based out of both New York and Texas, Hearts and Bones, has been collecting names from the community, asking people to nominate their own heroes who are on the frontlines fighting the coronavirus.

So far, some of the names have been Nurse Ali, Medic Montesino, and Dr. Zhang. Each person has been doing their part in the pandemic, and they all have their story to share.

For example, according to Hearts and Bones, Dr. Zhang, has been working tirelessly out of Philadelphia, where he’s an internal medicine residence.

This regal pup has got a reason to smile 😊 We just rescued him from a rural Texas shelter today! Meet Dr. Zhang, a 3-5 yr old #greatdane mix named after a doctor (and HBR dog dad) working on the frontlines of the COVID pandemic in Philadelphia – he’s an internal medicine resident and actually volunteered to work in the COVID ICU to do everything he can to fight the virus. Our way of saying thanks is naming this handsome pup after him! Do you have a health hero in your life you’d like to celebrate? Nominate them now at the link in our bio and we’ll name a dog in their honor! Dr. Zhang the dog is a super chill and friendly guy who had been waiting in the shelter for almost 3 months before we met him today. He gets along great with other dogs and is just such a wonderful guy! We’re hoping to bring him to NYC ASAP so he can finally find his forever home. Stay tuned for even more new dogs and don’t forget to nominate your #healthheroes 🖤 . . #adoptdontshop #dogsmile #happydog #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #covid19 #hbrhealthheroes #doctor #dogsofinstagram #dogsofig #instadog #dogstagram #cutedog #dogoftheday #dailydog #bestwoof #mutt #adopt #fosteringsaveslives #lovedogs #doglover #doggo

Meet our newest health hero pup – Nurse Ali! This 8 month old speckly cattle dog mix is named after a nurse currently working on the frontlines of the COVID pandemic in a hospital on Long Island. Ali was nervous when she first heard she was being moved to support on the floors in the midst of the crisis, but she quickly realized the best thing she could do was help anywhere it was needed and the experience has reminded her of why she got into nursing in the first place. Thank you Ali for your incredible work 🖤 The canine Nurse Ali is a cute little 25lb spitfire who’s friendly as can be and always down to play. She ADORES people and other dogs and is a total social butterfly 🦋. Ali will be coming to NYC soon and be available for virtual adoption meetings for approved adopters. If you’re already approved, you can email our adoptions team about Ali. Newbies – apply to make this gal yours at heartsandbonesrescue.com! Don’t forget to nominate your health hero at the link in our bio and we’ll name one of our dogs in their honor! . . #adoptdontshop #hbrhealthheroes #healthheroes #thankshealthheroes #covid19 #nurse #cattledog #catahoulaleoparddog #heeler #blueheeler #rescuedog #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #dogoftheday #dailydog #dogsofinstagram #dogsofig #instadog #dogstagram #bestwood #cutedog #lovedogs #doglover #nyc #adopt #doggo #dogsofinsta #savethemall

While there is no way that we can fully repay our health workers and essential workers for all that they’re doing for us, naming adorable pups after them seems like a lovely place to start. Hopefully, after all this is over, we will continue to be appreciative of the wonderful work that they do on a daily basis.
