Dog Rescued After Falling Over 200ft Cliff Edge – Top Dog Tips
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Operations Control (SFRS) was alerted at 11:04 AM to reports of a dog falling over the edge of a cliff near Cullen Golf Club.
Bailey was the dog rescued after falling over a 200ft cliff edge.
A nine-month-old Border Collie puppy named Bailey has miraculously survived a plunge off a 200ft cliff edge.
Bailey fell while he was out for a hike around Cullen Golf Club in Moray, Scotland, on Thursday, May 18th.
Owner, Nicola Jones, was walking with a friend when Bailey became separated from them.
But following the operation, she praised the dedication of rescuers to save Bailey—and bought them all ice cream to say thank you.
The cliff is about 60 meters or 200ft high, and the dog had become trapped on a ledge around 30 meters (100ft) from the bottom.
The incident happened just before 11 AM, and there were suspicions that the pup may not have survived.
The SFRS and HM Coastguard worked together to get Bailey to safety after a dangerous line rescue operation.
The SFRS deployed two fire crews and specialist line rescue resources. On the other hand, HM Coastguard also mobilized rescuers.
Mrs. Jones had anxious moments as she watched the dramatic cliff rescue near Cullen.
Fortunately, Bailey was safely rescued and reunited with his owner.
SFRS Area Commander Chay Ewing said:
“I’m delighted this incident had a positive outcome and Bailey was reunited with his owner.
This incident also demonstrates how we work closely with our other emergency service partners, such as HM Coastguard.
As a humanitarian organisation, SFRS crews use their technical training and expertise as well as specialist equipment to rescue animals.
This can prevent members of the public placing themselves at risk by trying to effect their own rescue.”
After the rescue, Mrs. Jones praised all the rescuers and treated them to ice cream as a thank you later on.
Nicola Jones stated:
“The firefighter mentioned they had trained for things like this but not had the chance to work together with other services in operation.
“I’m truly grateful to all those involved. My friend and I were taking a usual walk, and in seconds, Bailey was away.
“He’s so very lucky to be alive. He was on the cliff for four hours.
“It was quite the ordeal. Bailey almost came off the cliff several times, but luckily he didn’t. I can’t thank everyone involved enough. They were amazing.”
