Mighty Paw Smart Bell Dog Doorbell Review

If your dog is trained to scratch at the door when he wants to go out, it’s probably doing a lot of damage to your door and the frame around it. If you’re tired of the unsightly marks in your entryway, training your pet to use a doorbell may be a better option. The Mighty Paw Smart Bell is an electronic doorbell for pets that can be heard virtually anywhere in your home.

A doggy doorbell is exactly what it sounds like – a doorbell for dogs. These devices are easy to use, and it’s pretty easy to train your pooch to notify you that he wants to go out. The concept of a doggy doorbell is simple, which means finding the one that fits your home and your dog is fairly easy.

Mighty Paw Smart BellThere are two types of doorbells – electronic and traditional. Electronic doorbells – like the Mighty Paw Smart Bell – can be pressed with a paw or nose. They make an audible tone when pressed. Think of pressing someone’s doorbell before entering their home.

Traditional models feature a string of metal bells that your dog can jingle to signal that he wants to go outside. When you’re looking for the best dog doorbells, be sure to keep your pet’s needs and personality in mind. This was one of the aspects I considered when testing this new and innovative Mighty Paw Smart Bell that’s somewhat different from many others.

Do you think it would be easier for Fido to press a button or jingle a string of bells with his nose? It will take longer to train your dog to use a doorbell if he’s scared of it or has a difficult time using the device.

Mighty Paw Smart Bell Dog Doorbell Review

Mighty Paw Smart BellAs I said, this is an electronic bell. You can see the base unit in my photo above. It plugs into any electrical outlet in your home. This means you can put the base in a central location, so you can hear it from any room in your home.

The activator(s) mounts anywhere with a 3M adhesive strip. You can place it directly on the door or on the wall next to the door. There are no tools required to install this doggy doorbell, meaning there is no hardware that will leave holes in your door/wall.

The activator and the base unit can be up to 1,000 feet apart and still work!

I also like that the activator attaches with a 3M strip because it allows you to move it any time you need to without leaving a mark behind or peeling off paint. The adhesive on the strip may wear out over time, but they are very inexpensive to replace.

The bell is activated with just .75 pounds of pressure, so even the smallest dog breeds can activate it. As you can see in my video review, our Beagle has no problem pressing the button, and it works well for our Labrador too! You just need to make sure that you place the button at a height that will be appropriate for all of the dogs in your home.

TMighty Paw Smart Bellhere are 4 volume settings and 38 different sound tones available. It’s easy to change the settings with a small button on the side of the base unit.

There is also a quick and easy-to-follow training guide included with the Mighty Paw Smart Bell. I used a little bit of peanut butter on the activator to get our dogs interested in pushing it. It worked really well, as our girls are both food motivated.

You can purchase one base unit and one activator on Amazon for $24.99 or a set with one base unit and two activators for $37.99. Compared to traditional dog doorbells that sell for less than $10, this one is quite a bit more expensive.

However, this one is electronic and offers more features than traditional bells. Plus, it’s still affordable on almost any budget. When you think of the cost to repair damage from scratching dog nails, the Mighty Paw Smart Bell will pay for itself in no time.
