Owning a Dog, Health Benefits

Are you aware of the many health benefits that owning a dog can bring? I am a bit biased I suppose because I have always loved having a dog around the house, but I find it hard to understand why more people do not take the plunge and own a dog.

In this article, I write about the ways in which a dog can help and improve people’s health.

Owning a dog can help people who are stressed. Going out in the garden or in the local park and throwing a ball to your dog, will relax you and take away most stressful thoughts

You watch your dog wagging its tail in enjoyment as she retrieves the ball. As your dog runs full speed after the ball again.

Many people who have struggled with stress, find this whole experience helpful in a number of ways. You feel less stress, blood pressure may be reduced, your mind is filled with happier thoughts.

Cuddling at home with your dog continues to expand on your de-stressing.

Fitness:

Taking your dog on walks in your neighborhood or to the park helps you and your pet stay fit.  When walking the dog, the fresh air and the time away from the house helps to clear your mind. After a busy day at work, take your pup for a walk and feel the stresses of your day melt away.

Dog ownership has so many benefits, but to also know that you are helping your own health, it’s time to adopt that special dog in your life.
