AAFCO Meeting January 17-19, 2023 – Truth about Pet Food

[ad_1]

Another Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) meeting will take place this week in San Antonio, TX.

Of significance to pet owners will be the Pet Food Committee session. The agenda for this session includes another update for Pet Food Labeling modernization efforts by AAFCO. The AAFCO organization has provided the draft regulations regarding pet food labeling updates – Click Here to read.

The Pet Food Committee session will also include a report from a Working Group established by AAFCO regarding the potential to establish a legal maximum for copper in cat and dog foods. AAFCO has also provided the report from the Copper Working Group which does not appear to be in favor of limiting the amount of copper in pet food. Click Here to read the Working Group report.

Also in this session there will be a brief discussion regarding Human Grade pet food guidelines, AAFCO previously released that report (which can be read Here).

The Pet Food Committee meeting will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 PM CT. Pet owners can listen to the meeting for free – but are not allowed to provide comment (unless you pay to attend in person or virtually).
