January 7-9, 2021: AVMA Virtual Veterinary Leadership Conference

The veterinary profession’s premier conference for leadership development moved to a virtual format this year to ensure the health and safety of attendees. VLC will continue to offer a mix of CE sessions, AVMA governance meetings and networking. Attendees can expand and hone leadership skills while connecting virtually with a diverse network of colleagues from all walks of the veterinary profession. This virtual conference will be a fitting opportunity to learn about Leadership in Times of Change. AVMA will support state VMAs and its constituent allied organizations by hosting their leaders in-person during VLC while still maintaining safe guidelines. Hosting an in-person meeting is optional for each state and constituent allied organization, and attending in-person is optional for each leader. January 16, 2021: New York Dog Film Festival in person at Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

The Dog Film Festival celebrates the love between dogs and their people through animated, documentary and narrative short films from around the world. After a New York City premiere every year, this program of films travels to towns across the United States and Canada, benefiting a local animal welfare group at every destination. You can see it in-person today at 2 p.m. at the Charlottetown City Cinema in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The festival is currently welcoming entries for the 6th Annual Festival. January 10 – February 21, 2021: Premier of All Creatures Great and Small

Who doesn’t love Masterpiece on PBS? Now, there is another reason to watch as All Creatures Great and Small, the book about James Herriot’s adventures as a veterinarian in 1930s Yorkshire, gets a glorious new adaptation in a seven-part series. January 14, 2021: National Dress Up Your Pet Day

Dressing up your dog — even if it is just a cute bandana — helps make him feel special. Also, if you have a large breed dog that some people may find scary, putting on a friendly bandana or cute t-shirt makes your dog less intimidating. The No. 1 rule in dressing up your dog is to make sure he or she is comfortable at all times and not stressed. Here are some tips for getting your dog used to a costume.

January 24, 2021: My Furry Valentine Pet Portrait Fundraiser

Get Fido’s portrait taken in time for Valentine’s Day while helping raise money for Lincoln Animal. From 1-5 p.m., Cherished Images will be at Paws 4 Fun, Lincoln’s indoor dog park on 222 N. 44th St. Professional photographer Beverly Jimenez lends her talent as part of this fundraiser for Lincoln Animal Ambassadors. Well-behaved and vaccinated pets are invited. Props provided while masks and social distancing are required. No appointment necessary. Cherished Images will donate a minimum of $5 per pet to support LAA’s income-based spay/neuter and pet food bank programs. The cost of purchasing photos is listed on LAA’s website. Support LAA by attending this fundraiser, providing a direct monetary donation, or donating to its pet food bank. For more information, click here.
